HOW TO ORDER

Wooden Screen Door Company offers two convenient ways to purchase our handcrafted mahogany screen doors and porch panels: online through our website or by scheduling an appointment to visit our showroom in Waldoboro, Maine.

How to Order Online

Step 1: Choose Your Door Style

Start by browsing our catalog to find a style you love. You’ll choose between two options:

  • Made to Order — This is for a door built to your exact measurements and preferences.
  • As Is (Stock Doors) — These are ready-made doors in standard sizes, ready to ship in 7–10 days. Choose this if you need something quickly and your opening is a standard size.

Step 2: Measure Your Door Opening

Before you can customize your door, you’ll need two measurements:

  • Width: Measure the narrowest point of your door opening (openings aren’t always perfectly straight, so we ask for the tightest spot).
  • Height: Measure the inside height of your opening, from top to bottom.

Tip: Use a tape measure and write your numbers down before you start the online order — you’ll need them in the next step!

Step 3: Customize Your Door

Now you’ll fill in the specific details for your door. This includes:

  • Dimensions: Enter the width and height you measured in Step 2.
  • Screen Type: Choose the type of screen mesh (see our Screen Options here).
  • Mortising: “Mortising” just means the pocket cut into the wood where your hinges and latch will sit. You’ll tell us which side of the door your hinges go on, and which side your latch goes on. (Tip: figure this out by standing outside your house, facing the door.)
  • Hardware: Choose your preferred hardware color, or select “No Hardware Needed” if you already have hardware you’d like to reuse.

Step 4: Review Everything Before You Buy

Before adding your door to your cart, take a moment to double-check:

  • Your measurements are correct
  • You understand the estimated lead time (see below)
  • You’ve selected the right hardware and screen type

Step 5: Add to Cart and Checkout

Once everything looks correct, add your door to your cart and complete your checkout like you would on any online store.

Step 6: Choose How You’ll Get Your Door

At checkout, you’ll choose between:

  • Shipping — We ship nationwide.
  • Local Pickup — Pick up your door at our shop in Waldoboro, Maine. (Note: pickups are by appointment only — more info below!)
